CENTRAL CALIFORNIA BLUES AWARDED GRANT BY
US SOCCER FOUNDATION
The US Soccer foundation is the largest and most renowned soccer organization in the nation. This year they awarded 2.5 million dollars in grants to organizations in 30 states. As a relatively small soccer club in Bakersfield, we are honored to be acknowledged by such an esteemed soccer entity. Our club was evaluated, compared, and contrasted to some of the largest clubs in the United States by the foundation when they were determining grant recipients and the Blues rose to the top. The Central California Blues is the first club from Bakersfield to have this honor bestowed upon them. We wish to thank ALL the members of the Central California Blues, from staff, to players, to volunteers, to supporters. It is your efforts that have been awarded this grant. To be recognized and rewarded by the most prestigious soccer organization in the US is something we should all be proud of.

In 2009, the Central California Blues was established to bring together the best players and coaches in Bakersfield to create a premier level soccer club. Individually, the coaching staff at the Central California Blues have created highly competitive and successful teams. The present BU-16 Central California Blues (formerly the Central California Aztecs) made Coast Soccer League history this year by being the first team from Bakersfield to be accepted into the Under 16 Premier League. Additionally, they are presently ranked number one in the state of California and number five in the nation. They have competed in some of the most prestigious tournaments in the nation and produced numerous Olympic Development players. The present BU-16 Central California Blues United team is currently competing in the Gold level of the Coast Soccer League, has also produced Olympic Development Players, and competed in the Far West Regional League with some of the most competitive teams in the country. Teaming up with coaches who have years of professional playing experience in the MLS and coaching experience, these coaches believed that TOGETHER ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Hard work, dedication, and talent development are main focuses of the Blues, but equally important are teaching the definitions of team work, respect, and camaraderie.
The Central California Blues believes that no child should be denied the opportunity to participate at the highest levels of club soccer for any reason including the inability to pay the normal costs associated with club soccer. In that effort, the Central California Blues actively holds fund raisers and relies on outside sponsorship to support these players.
